About Us

#MountieFamily

The Junior A Mountaineers Lacrosse Club was established in 2006 as an expansion team to the Rocky Mountain Lacrosse League (RMLL) Junior A program bringing the total number of Junior A lacrosse teams in Alberta to four.  Playing out of Calgary, our program focuses on developing our players as both elite athletes and responsible young men. On-floor objectives are to teach our athletes how to be the best lacrosse players while preparing them for whatever challenges life offers.  Our experienced coaching staff brings their knowledge and expertise of the game of lacrosse to teach elite level systems, focus on individual instruction, and by placing a high degree of responsibility on each player to bring out the best in each team member; these skills translate to real life, making our athletes valuable members of the community. It is a lifetime opportunity for these 17 -21 year old athletes to be able to participate in lacrosse at this level. Many of these young men will take the skills they learn here to colleges and universities across Canada and the United States. A few even make the jump to the NLL, the professional lacrosse league of which our home Calgary Roughnecks are a part of.

Our philosophy as a club is to continue development of our athletes both as lacrosse players and as young men entering the next level of their life, such as university or to the work force. Our goal is to have our players leave our program better prepared for the next step.  Whether it is NCAA, NLL or entering the business world.

We accomplish this by ensuring teamwork, responsibility and confidence being the base of all our training.  We encourage our athletes and maintain a positive stance for the club during all practices and games especially when there are mistakes that take place on the floor.  Not only are the Mounties involved with the day-to-day schedule of our program, but we have initiated the Mounties in the community.  We have the annual Winter Blast; a tournament hosted by the Mounties and ran by our players for the minor lacrosse players of Calgary to enjoy lacrosse over the winter season.

Along with this, our coaching staff is committed to ensuring we are competitive in the season, playoffs and in the Minto Cup.  This is the highest level of lacrosse in Canada and our goal is to WIN Alberta and the Minto Cup. We are looking for players to match our commitment on and off the floor to reach our goals of making the Mounties the best team in Alberta and Canada.
