The Mounties played game three of the season against the Rivals and walked away happy. Management was very pleased, saying the boys “played a solid 60 minutes.” Accompanied with great goaltending and solid defence down the stretch the boys were able to take away the victory. Management is hopeful the boys will be able to turn the corner now and play at this level all season long.

The boys came out firing on all cylinders, which was a big reason to their success. Not having to come from behind gave the boys confidence to keep rolling and stay on top of their very tough opponent. Outscoring the Raiders 7-4, the Mounties got goals from seven different contributors, showing the team effort they put forth all game.

Defence and bounce backs were the stories in the second period. Mounties struck first but then allowed three unanswered, making it a one goal game. Luitweiler and Bunio had something to say about that, scoring two goals late, within a minute apart! The Raiders rounded out the period with one more and the Mounties went into the dressing room with a 10-8 lead.

The third was a tough fought battle, but well expected. With great goaltending and excellent defence the Mounties and Raiders equally exchanged three goals throughout the period. Management was very happy with the consistent, all-around game they got from the Mounties, securing their 13-11 victory over the undefeated Raiders.

Mounties play two games this upcoming weekend. Saturday is away in St. Albert at 5:30 pm against the Miners and Sunday at 3:30 pm at the Peppardome against the Blues! The boys look to secure four points and move a little closer to that top spot and take it away from the Raiders. Hope to see you all Sunday, cheering our boys on at home!
