The Mountaineers put together a full game front to back and won against the Miners at Servus Go Auto Arena in St. Albert. The team was rolling lines evenly and provided offence from a multitude of players. The Mounties started the game a little slow only having 2 goals in the first but then exploded in the second period putting eight in the back of the net. The Mounties followed suit and kept peppering the Miner’s goalie with shots and despite letting in another 12 in the third he had some incredible saves throughout the game. The overall score ended up being 22-3 and the Mounties improved to 5-1 on the season and took sole possession of second.

Some AP’s made a name for themselves as Ethan Olson a 4th round Midget pick put four goals in the back of the net with one assist on the night and Ben Foster a 5th round pick in the midget draft had five helpers accompanied by one goal. Older brother Jake Foster, had one excellent game of his own collecting a total of 8 points from five goals and three assists. When asking Jake what it was like playing with his little bro he said, “It was fun, but different because I want to keep an eye out for him, even though he is a big boy and can handle himself, but it was an awesome experience to say the least.” The rest of the Mounties were not selfish on Sunday either, shown by 5 separate guys getting 5 assists: Moffat, Gillis, Henning, Bot and B. Foster (AP).

The boys hope to keep this offence rolling as they face their rivals, the undefeated 6 & 0 Raiders this Wednesday, May 31st at Max Bell Arena. Hope to see you all there cheering on our Mounties as they look to move into a tie for first with a win this Wednesday!
